Facts about MRSA
Information and solutions for infection control

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), or staph, is a bacteria that can cause infection in the human body. MRSA is more difficult to treat than most strains of staphylococcus aureus because it is resistant to some commonly used antibiotics.

The symptoms of MRSA vary. Most often, it causes mild infections on the skin, causing pimples or boils. But it can also cause more serious skin infections or infect surgical wounds, the bloodstream, the lungs, or the urinary tract. Some MRSA infections can become life-threatening. For these reasons, many public health experts are concerned by the spread of MRSA.

Microban Germicidal Cleaner and Microban Germicidal Cleaner Concentrate are EPA registered to kill MRSA and many other forms of bacteria, viruses and fungi. For current information about MRSA, including infection control protocols, visit the Center for Disease Control MRSA FAQ page. For information about managing MRSA .
